My husband has a large polyp at the base of his colon. The Gastro Interologist that performed the colonoscopy said that the polyp was too large for him to take, so we met with a surgeon yesterday. His catscan showed irregular formations around the base of the colon. He is recommending a pet scan, but ultimately says that the whole base of the colon (rectum) be removed which would result in him having a colostomy bag for the rest of his life. Anyone have any suggestions? We don't understand why they can't reconstruct. If anyone can tell us their story, we are really panicked. Thank you...
