Anyone heard of this?
My husband was told a couple years ago that he had pollups (spelling?) and had reflux. He was prescribled Nexium but when it didn't seem to help after 3 weeks, he refused to take it. "He said it was just another pill he'd have to take daily". Obviously nothing got much better in time so he went back to the doctor about four months ago with complaints of horrible smelling gas (literally he would pass gas every five minutes 24/7) along with indigestion. The did a colonoscopy while forgetting to consider the gas issue and came back and said that reason for the indigestion was that the bottom opening of his esophagus was open too wide and that he needed surgery to close it up more which would require a 6-8 week recovery. When we asked about the gas, they said it could be caused by the same issue. ???? Made no sense to us. Anyway, he's now having problems with eating, thinking that he digested his food but hours later will complain that it feels like literal food in his throat, will cough and up comes chewed up food (sometimes whole pieces of rice). It's like the food isn't going down and he can't get it to. He ends up forcing himself to vomit to relieve the pain and aggravation of it. He can't wash it down with drinks either. I know all of this is disgusting but has anyone encountered these symptoms? Thanks!
