Son doubling up

We have been to the ER twice in the last two weeks. My 11 year old son is doubling up and they originally thought it was his appendix. So barium CT with contrast too. Appendix is normal. Also - could a child have gallbladder issues? Would this truly make him double up?

Re: Son doubling up

Yes, children can have gb issues and it could make him double up. Have they done an ultrasound?

Re: Son doubling up

Did the doctors order any blood tests. They should run a metabolic panel, cbc to see if there might be any inflamation of the liver, gallbladder, etc.... Does he have a fever?

Also a "complete abdominal ultrasound" is definitely a good test to get more information as to what might be going on....and it's painless. I feel so bad for your son, especially he's so young.

Re: Son doubling up

The GI doc has got him scheduled for the full abdominal ultrasound to check liver, spleen, pancreas, and gallbladder. He also said they would do a HIDA scan to check the gallbladder function.

Thanks for posting back so quickly. It helps to know that I wasn't pushing more tests on him for nothing. I will let you know what happens.
THANKS again!
