Gastroparesis

My husband has been diagnosed with gastroparesis as a result of multiple abdominal surgeries- our MD's here in western NY offer very little info/treatment/answers...I'm looking for a "gastroparesis guru" and am willing to travel to find one...Anyone have an MD or clinic known for treating gastro? I am watching my husband waste away...suggestions? thanks

Re: Gastroparesis

Hi Lori - I'm so sorry that your husband is so sick. I don't know of any specific "gurus", but I know that a few cities in the US have experimental gastric pacemaker clinics. (I think there's one in Southern California, and another maybe in Texas - I'm sorry I can't be more specific!) But, I reckon that if you looked up the pacemaker, you could find the clinics, and there would definitely be gastroparesis specialists there.
I have gastroparesis too. I'm really sorry about your husband - I hope something works out!

Re: Gastroparesis

Mississippi has UMC hospital that has installed hundreds of the gastric pacemaker. Dr. Ables My wife has had 2 of them. the first one did not work at all. We are not sure if they work or not. She has had a pic line for the last 3 years and gives herself phenergin daily and drips when she has really bad days. Some people have much better luck with the pacemaker than we have
