yesterday i had a barium swallow/meal test and i was given something that was not barium. it was a clear, slightly yellow, anise flavour syrup texture liquid, nothing like barium that i had on previous tests. what i asked what it was they said 'contrast'. afterwards my stomach was very upset and bloated and i had very bad diarrhoea (which hasn't gone yet). did some search on internet but couldn't find anything on what else is used for this test.
does anyone know what that liquid was and what it contains?
