Diverticulitis

Hello,

I'm new to the Board. I suddenly became sick with pain followed by vomiting.
It started a week ago today. I went to the doctor and he feels I may have Diverticulitis. I'm on Sulfameth (Bactrim) for infection. My urine was abnormal and showed ketones. So it could be a UTI as well, but I really do feel it could be Diverticulitis. We'll see.
My tempurature has been normal, and my BM's are normal. I have taken 8 antibiotics so far. I have to say today is the first day I have not had nausea or a lot of pain since this started a week ago.
I'll see the Doc again within a week for follow-up. I do need to pick up a stool sample kit next time (forgot last time). I sure hope it will be normal.

Has anyone had Diverticulitis? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Diverticulitis

two years ago I had a terrible back pain at work and went home, The next day, my tummy felt funny, hurting but differrnt than the usual flu. I took mysrlf to the Er expecting an anitboitic and being sent home. They insisted on ct scans with contrast and IVP. then they wanted to admit me for a few days of iv antibiotics. I did stay 4 days ( the sulfa drug made me violently ill(thank you zofran!)I felt good and went home for a week before the diverticuli burst and spread infection thru the bowels, Surgery was done next morning. I woke with a colostomy. for three months and have since had a successful reversal, All is clear, I guess but i still don't trust that my body is gonna get me to the end without some serious dicussions as to what is expected of each organ. Seems they fel they can just let loose on a whim. I'm asking for more of a commitment for each organ and system to preform at their peak potential. Haven't come up with the incentive plan rewards yet...
