incision pain

My husband just went in for anerysum stent surgery a few days ago and is complaining of incision pain, I've looked at the incision and it's not red or swollen and it looks pretty good to me there are approximately 12 staples in it, is incision pain usual after surgery I think it's due to the surgery, any replies would be welcomed thank you
