I did a very cursory search and it seems that you can use ultrasound to look for ulcers. I always thought they did an endoscopy but you have to admit and ultrasound is less intrusive. I don't know how common this is I just searched for ultrasound and ulcers since I figured that is what they were doing it for. If you have H. pylori they may assume you have an ulcer.

Did you ask your doctor? You need to get answers from he/she. I found most doc are pretty forth coming though it's not uncommon to followup with further questions.
