Question about preparation for colonoscopy and EGD - Digestive Disorders Message Board

Hi I going to have a colonoscopy and egd in April and was wondering about the medications I take. Do I take my medications the day before as I am preparing for the day colonscopy along with stuff I have to drink (halflytel bisacodyl tablets bowel prep kit). My medication are paxil 20 mg in morning and lotrel 5/20 in the afternoon, and 1mg clonozepem at night. Also what medicines do I take the day of the test?

Any help would be helpful.

You should call your doctors office. I took my normal medications the day before. I followed the prep instructions on the afternoon/evening before. I asked my doctor about taking my medications on the day of the procedure. He went through them one-by-one to determine whether or not I should take each one. I've had 2 EGD's and one Colonoscopy in the last couple years. Due to the timing, they had me take a couple meds on one of the days (with a sip of water), but on the others they had me wait until after the procedure to take them. I really think it depends on when your procedure and what your medications are.
