gastroparesis - left side chest burning

Hello, I am a 45 year old female(120 lbs) diagnosed with Gastroparesis March 2008. I started taking Reglan however, I was allergic to it. I then began taking Domperidone and have had excellent results. I have had GERD since I was 18 and have been taking meds since I was 18, right now taking Zegrid twice a day. I believe my gastric emptying is getting better, I can have been using accupuncture in an effort to get off the Domperidone and get my stomach to start working on its own. Every time I take a few days off the domperidone I have a feeling of fire in the upper most part of the left side of my chest that radiates down my left arm. When I brought this up to the doctors, they did extensive cardiac tests with everything checking out fine. Everytime I take a domperidone "holiday" this heat in my chest starts - it mostly happens at night and I sleep on an incline with extra pillows!!
Has anyone else had this and any suggestions ?
Thank you.

Re: gastroparesis - left side chest burning

Funny - Im battling the same sensation. Except mine is in the upper chest and upper stomach right where the ribs meet. Doc has me on 40 mg nexium and 300mg of Zantac at night because the burning sensation gets unbearable in the evening. It wakes me up. I too sleep on an incline with pillows. I just want to be able to sleep normal again. Ivw dealt with GERD for several years, and that's what the doc is treating me for> But never had this burning/hot/cold sensation. It's very strange> I also hear all kinds of gurgline in my stomach at times and terrible mucus drainage and gurgling throat. Ive been on PPIs for about three months now (first prilosec 2x/day - the doc swithced to the nexium and zantac combination). Doesn't seem to be working. So not sure of this EVEN IS GERD! It's frustrating.

Re: gastroparesis - left side chest burning

Thanks for the message....I am doing accupuncture which helps however, I would love to get off the meds and stop the fire in my chest - I also do get the burn sometimes above my ribs on the left side strange?? The doctors never have an answer for it however, it seems to me to be part of the reflux just going in a different area?? Good luck and let me know if you find anything that helps!!

Re: gastroparesis - left side chest burning

Went to a GI specialist last week. Nothing still working. Told me to go off the Nexium and Zantac before bed and gave me Kapidex to try. Im on day three of that and still no change> I'm scheudled to go for an upper endoscopy and esopahgeal manometry this week Thursday to see whats going on inside the stomach and esophagus. I just want something to work. This daily icy/hot sensation in my upper stomach and chest are very aggrevating. It's depressing not knowing what it is and thinking the worst. Will keep you posted.

Re: gastroparesis - left side chest burning

Good luck, I have done all of those tests...other then telling me I had Pre-barretts nothing else. The burning started in 7/08 and went away earlier this year however, now it is back - not sure why? Please let me know how you make out and if the Kapidex helps...I have never heard of that medicine.
