What would happen if someone didn't have a bowel movement for 8 years???

It seems to me that the food would be completely putrefied and eat away at your intestines and create holes that food begins to leak through into your bloodstream, which causes that person to have an autoimmune reaction to absolutely everything put into the digestive system, causing an autoimmune reaction to ALL foods and ANYTHING eaten/taken orally. I also can't imagine the environment for bacteria, Candida, and lethal toxins in the gut, which are allowed to be constantly present, leaking into the bloodstream, reeking havoc in every area of the body. This is only my theory. I want to know from others. "What would happen if someone were unable to have a bowel movement for 8 years?"

I have this problem. I will tell my story quickly. I quit having bowel movements somewhere around the beginning of the year 2000. Since then, I have had maybe one insufficient bowel movement maybe once every 6-12 months. I literally have not been able to have a bowel movement for 8+ years now. For the first 3 years, I had excruciating stomach/abdominal pain that would put me in the hospital, with morphine barely even touching the pain. Still, no bowel movements. The next 2 years, I took a massive amount of laxatives, that gave me some relief from the pain, during the day (pretty much I had horrible diarrhea every morning with horrible cramping pain, for about 3 hours, and that made me be able to get through the rest of the day; kind of getting it all out in the morning.) Then in December of 2006, after eating, I suddenly became VERY, VERY dizzy, lethargic, weak, and had a horrible "drunk"/toxic feeling in my head. It was terrifying. I felt like I was dying. Long story short. Here I am, 3 years later, and this horrible, terrifying feeling has NEVER gone away. I have become so intolerant to foods, that I have eventually reduced my diet to only 2 foods: bananas and peeled russet potatoes, because these to things are the least reacted to. These two foods still cause EXCRUCIATING TOXIC symptoms...but anything other than that, causes me to literally become completely immobilized. I have not had a bowel movement for 8+ years. I have been to 100s of doctors (all on my government insurance). No one could help me. No one believed me. No one seemed to care. Again, I have NOT HAD A BOWEL MOVEMENT IN 8 YEARS! I am so sick, I can barely move from my bed. These neurological symptoms are terrifying and I feel like I am dying. I am weak. I am malnourished. I am very, very sick. I have only eaten plain bananas and potatoes, now, for a whole year, due to the fear of eating any other food. Every time I ate another food, the symptoms became so strong, that you cannot imagine. Even with eating this limited, horrible "diet" of bananas and potatoes, the symptoms are terrifying. I don't know how I've lasted for this long. I am trying to hold onto some sanity. The neurological symptoms are debilitating and terrifying. I feel weak. I have sought the help of so many doctors (but wonder if they just don't care to help me because I am on government insurance?) Or maybe they think I'm crazy. But this is REAL. And I need HELP! I am a single mom and my daughter has suffered tremendously because of this illness. Is there anyone out there that can help me? I feel like I am near death. And I need help. I don't want to leave my 6 year old daughter here. I don't want her mommy to die. Is there any doctor who could help me? There must be hope. There must be an answer. Something I can do to get well. I really feel like I need a good doctor's care that CARES about saving people's lives. Because I feel my life is hanging from a thread. And my daughter needs me. Can someone please help me? Please.

I am confused... you say you are not having any bowel movements in one sentence and saying you have diarrhea in the next sentence?

If you are experiencing severe constipation alternating with diarrhea that is VERY different from absolutely no passage of any stool.

Re: What would happen if someone didn't have a bowel movement for 8 years???

The only time I had a bowel movement over the last 8 years, is when I took extremely strong laxatives for 2 of the years. I have not had a natural bowel movement for 8 + years. For those 2 years in 2005 and 2006, I was taking Senna Root, which at least caused my meal from the night before to pass rapidly and painfully the next morning. I could see the undigested food (lettuce, meat, corn, etc.) in the watery substance in the toilet. Therefore, I believe for these two years, I may have prevented further constipation, but the buildup from the 5 previous years was and is still present. I am now unable to take laxatives (or any medication) for that matter, because I react so severely to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I put into my digestive system. I feel it is leaking into my bloodstream immediately and my immune system is attacking everything as a foreign substance, because it does not belong in my bloodstream. Again, this is my only theory/explanation. It could be something completely different. So, from 2000 - 2005, I did not have a bowel movement. From 2005 - 2006, I took major laxatives, which forced my current meals through my body in a rapid and unnatural manner. From 2007 - 2009 (current), I have not had a bowel movement. It was December, 2006, that the terrifying, toxic, dizzy, death feelings came. It is now October, 2009, and there has not been one day that I have gone without fearing for my life; feeling these terrifying symptoms. I have yet to have a bowel movement.

Hmm, have you ever been put on enteral feeding, so your digestive system can have a rest?

What is your reaction to natural supplements and medicines?

Have you ever tried mare's milk?

Can you talk to someone specializing in Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, or Naturopathy?

Re: What would happen if someone didn't have a bowel movement for 8 years???

I only WISH I could be fed internally! It could very well save my life! I've even gone to the hospital and begged for an IV. But, they turned me away. I have been turned away time after time after time. I've been to 100s of doctors and had so many tests done. For some reason, no one will help me. Maybe they don't believe me? I don't know! I wish someone would help me. I think it could really, really help me to be able to get the nutrition I need and let my digestive system rest and heal. It makes me very sad, that I could die, and none of the doctors seem to care.

I react the same way to natural supplements and medicines. Anything and everything I put into my body...has the same reaction. Which is so odd to me...I react the exact same way, whether I eat a carrot or a piece of pie (not that I eat pie, because I know it's unhealthy)...but, I tried a completely organic diet; fruits and veggetables...oh, I feel I have tried SO MANY different things, always hoping for different results...but always getting the same. Dizzy, toxic, eyes go out, heart rate almost stops, cannot move, head is so dizzy and heavy, I can't turn it or move it, my brain is completely immobilized, I become in a vegetative state, my body has involentary tremors...but the head...oh, the head symptoms are TERRIFYING. My body seems to be reacting to everything, the exact same way. It's not a different reaction for a different food or supplement.

No, I have not tried mare's milk. I am unsure of what that is. I will look it up, undoubtedly.

...okay, I have looked it up. From what I've read, it does have healing tendencies, but it is also high in natural sugar/alcohol. With how long I have gone without a bowel movement, I am guessing I have insanely high candida and other bacteria, thriving in my gut, which, it seems to me, that the mare's milk may feed that bacteria even more. I may be wrong. But, I would like to try to make a unfriendly environment for the bacteria in my gut. However, I do not want it to start dying off and make me even sicker (I can't imagine how I could feel sicker than I already do)...if I got any sicker, I would probably cease to exist. Anyway, I was thinking that if I went on a low glycemic juice fast, I may be able to let my digestive system rest and get the nutrition I so desperately need. I'm just afraid of the reaction to the vegetable juice (no fruits because of the sugar content). But, I know I have to do something , before I die. I'm just so afraid of getting worse...which, to me, seems it would be my death.

I have been to several medical/regular MDs and specialists, which pretty much stabbed, poked, *****ed, and drugged me, all to no avail. All tests were inconclusive/negative. Finally, after I exhausted all doctors on my insurance (after about 2 years), I began seeing naturopathic doctors. I believe that naturopathy could eventually help me and there may be someone out there that could definitely care and be able to help me. But, I spent everything we had in our bank account and am too sick to work. At $80 per visit and $100 in supplements every time...with reactions to the supplements and having to go back and spend another $80 on another visit and being so sick I'm not able to work or drive or eat or barely walk or see or think...eventually, after a year of seeing naturopaths, I ran out of money. We are now in the process of losing our home and I am too sick to even move, much less work. ...So, with that said, if only I had the money to see more different naturopaths, I know there is someone out there that can help me. It's a matter of money...and picking the right one. I feel I only had one chance with the money I had. It's not an easy thing to diagnose. Guess I picked the wrong one? Because I'm not well; I'm not any better...and I'm out of money.

Re: What would happen if someone didn't have a bowel movement for 8 years???

What could I ever say to you? I am extremely sorry to hear about all that is happening to you.

Anyway, I find the idea of the juice fast a good one, but then again you are already so weak.... Wouldn't it be better for you to have a broth fast? Boil the veggies until tender, sieve, and drink the liquid. It is warmer and maybe it will be less aggressive to your digestive tube. Don't fast for more than three days at a time. I think it would be a great idea if you could afford to buy L-Glutamine and green clay. Check to see if the clay is edible.

More later...

Re: What would happen if someone didn't have a bowel movement for 8 years???

I've been thinking about you...

One possible interpretation of your "problem" is you suffered from an acute bout of indigestion and since (I presume) it was not properly addressed, it became a chronic condition.

I don't know if your insurance covers this, but I think you should try and visit a chiropractor. I am not saying that the solution of your problem lies in your spine, but you probably know that your spine commands a lot of processes in your body, including digestion.

Who knows? You don't have anything to lose, do you?

Also, read about medicinal clay and see if it can help you.

I think I actually remember hearing about something like this before, I can't remember. It was with a child though, and he couldn't have proper bowl movements and a lot of times needed assistance with it, something about his colon not constricting. I wish I could remember more about it. I hope you are getting the help you need and start to feel better soon. Sorry I am of no help.

Re: What would happen if someone didn't have a bowel movement for 8 years???

I read your post and was in tears,I feel bad for you, My 18 yr old does not have regular bowel movements and it bothers me of course not 8 years, she is always irritable and she eats like crazy, and complains at times of her stomach hurting. I got her some citrate laxitive which is still sitting on my kitchen counter.... I will deal with her later. On to you...... I understand that when you do not have the resources to get the proper medical attention that you deserve. In turn people suffer because of lack of he almghty dollar. I will suggest to you that you pray and GOD to give you the ability to break that horrible bond that the devil as put on your bowels and that god will release you from being bound from that pain and he heals your body in the mighty name of Jesus. I do not want over step my boundries because I do not know you or what your religious beliefs are,but from your plea and your love for your daughter, I would imagine you love Jesus as well, seek him and he will deliver you from this if you believe in him, His promise is just that to his people, he said beleive in me and I will save thee. I will continue to pray for your strength and that GOD will deliver you from tha awful debilitating condition. GOD bles you and your beautiful baby

Hi - I am sorry that you are going thru this. You might want to look up "Leaky Gut Syndrome" and see if that matches your theory of things leaking into your bloodstream. It is a very real condition. There are some natural supplements like L-Glutamine that would help with the intestinal permeability.
