Re: I feel like I'm starving, but I have no appetite?
I did a search, and found this webpage with some ideas:
My first instinct is to say that you might have delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis). I suffer from gastroparesis, and have some symptoms similar to yours – I feel like I want more food than I "can" or "should" eat in a sitting (since if I eat too much, it makes me feel very sick to my stomach), and sometimes feel very full after just a few bites of food. If you lose your appetite quickly, it may be your body trying to protect you; it is keeping you from eating more than you can handle and filling your stomach so much that it causes discomfort. You didn't mention any nausea, vomiting or stomach discomfort (common symptoms of gastroparesis), but it is possible that your loss of appetite is causing you to eat very small amounts, and prevents you from getting severe symptoms. Treatments for gastroparesis may include: eating smaller meals more frequently (as you may already be doing), avoiding foods that slow digestion (such as foods high in fat), and drugs to help the stomach empty faster and suppress nausea (such as domperidone).
The test for gastroparesis is a Gastric Emptying Exam, which consists of 2-4 hours in the hospital, so you may want to rule out other possibilities first. Since this has continued for a week, you should probably see a doctor – especially if your loss of appetite is causing you to lose weight, since you may be at risk for not getting enough nutrition.
