| please help! ibs? or candida?
Hello,
I am 22 years old and have had some digestive problems for the past 5months, starting in july. I've had on and off issues for some years, unrelated to digestive health (so I think). My diet consisted of various foods but was high in fast food and processed food. Suddenly in july, any fast food I ate gave me horrible lower stomach pain followed by extreme diarrhea about 20minutes or so after eating. Alcohol began to give me diarrhea also then it progressed to foods like pizza, pasta, steak, even meals that would normally be healthy I thought.
I have seen 2 different doctors (from the same office) one thought gallbladder-ultrasound found nothing, and the other doctor thought ibs and prescribed bentyl which I havnt taken. It started to get worse, occuring every few days or so. I started getting scared to eat which is probably what caused my almost fainting a few times.
One day I noticed that when I took 2 birth control pills at the same time (had forgotten to take one), that my diarrhea was worse that day. I read online of multiple women experiencing ibs-like symptoms from birth control. I decided to stop taking it and so far I seem to only have symptoms once every week. So I am not sure if bc can be causing my problems or not, or just making them worse. The improvement of only once a week could also be that I started taking metamucil every other morning.
I have done tons of online research and found that yeast overgrowth in the intestines could also be a cause of my problems (although it is not widely recognized by the medical community), it would also explain some of the "unrelated issues" I mentioned earlier. I have also wondered could it be another bacteria causing this, being caused by dysbiosis or possibly not having enough digestive enzymes.
I don't know what to think anymore, all I know is this problem is wreaking emotional havoc on me. I have been so exhausted even after having sufficient sleep, I'm nervous all the time, especially about eating, I'm scared to be around my bf if I were to have an "attack". I just want to feel like a normal healthy 22yr old. Please if anyone can share experiences or shed some light or give any advice, it is all welcome!! Thank you!
