Resent gastroscopy results help!

Ok.

So for years now i've been getting these symptoms:

Stomach cramps that i get everyday and night for a few weeks that randomly stop by themselves for a few weeks and then come back.
Excessive bloating to the point i look pregnant even if i dont eat much.
Uncomfortable pains in the sternum area.
Constipation and hard stools (since childhood).
Noisy belchy sounds in my chest shortly after eating, but i can never belch (ever!).
Feeling full even after a few bites, but still being hungry.

I went today for a gastroscopy and was wondering if someone could translate! They did vaglely tell me but i'd had a sedative and wont see my GP til after the weekend:

Report:
Apparent mucosal junction at 40cm from the incisors.
OSOPHAGUS. Hiatus hernia: sliding length of 3cm within lower osophagus
STOMACH. Gastritis: moderate erythematous/exudative with no bleeding.

I can sort of guess what it is, but i've had it for years and am wondering if any treatment can help me? Im fed up of looking bloated and they suspected a stomach ulcer due to h pylori, which would have been easy to treat. I'm also fed up of feeling uncomfortable and full after even the smallest thing i eat!

What happens from here?

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

Hi There,
I really feel for you as I have similar problem myself.
Two years ago I was treated for H.Pylori. One year ago told it was gone. Also told I have small Hiatus Hernia and Diverticulitis (no surgery) required. I now have chronic Gastritis which is where I relate to you. Excessive Bloating and Gas feeling even after eating a small amount. I Also have the horrible noises but mine are in my stomach (feels like a washing machine). PPIs did no good.
Recently have had a lot of problems and yesterday I started on Aloe Vera-Juice for Digestion and Grapefruit Seed Extract. Will give it a week or so to see how things go.
Seems like a lot of others have similar problems.
Hope we get some relief.
All the best, Solofelix.

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

Well i went for the gastroscopy...I have a hiatus hernia and gastritis. I must have had this a long time, i've been getting the symptoms for years.

Im on omeprazole which isnt helping really. I've cut out fizzy drinks and spicy foods. To be honest, im bloated and suffering acid reflux even when i havent eaten!

I feel so fat (im not - but my belly is huge and looks like a pregnancy bump on me!) and sluggish

Please let me know if anything helps!!

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

Know the feeling!, just had my dinner (normal size) now blown up like a balloon, happens all the time. cant figure out wether it's the Gastritis or the Hiatal Hernia.
" Anyone else out there have this problem, and what do you do for it ?"
Wont take PPIs because a friend cant leave them off now after a year on them. (Not for Me). I watch my diet, take Gaviscon, Ginger tea and suffer on.
Solofelix.

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

I feel like this for a month now since I discovered I have LPR. I started also getting digestion issues w/out heartburn after I overate. I am 5'9, 129 lbs so I dont want to lose weight. But I try to eat small portions, frequently. I do get very bloated stomach but my appetite is pretty good. I also belch in gaseous form and sometimes have a sour taste in my mouth. I really don't want to get an endo now but I am afraid I might be developping hernia. WHat other symtoms do you guys have?
DGLs, enzymes, chamomile tea, probiotics, yoga, caffeine and tomato free diet is what I am trying now. No PPis yet.

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

Whats LPR? Cannot seem to work it out!!

I've been taking Omeprazole for the reflux - It hasnt worked. Drinking much more water with no difference. I've noticed rich foods like foods with sauces seem to aggrevate the pain.

Getting worse pain now in my lower abdomen, unsure if its related to gastro problems or female problems....

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

Is the pain in your Bellybutton area or slightly higher up, that's where mine is. The bloating comes and goes whether I eat or not. Do you suffer Nausea. Yesterday was a bad day, my bellybutton area was so sore and painful and I felt full of wind/gas. I was given Nexium ( Did Nothing) for me.
Seems we all have similar symptoms. Good Luck. Solofelix.
P.S... I am taking Aloe-Vera and drinking Ginger Tea.

Re: Gastroscopy succssefull at last

I had an endoscope yesterday finally succesfull after I dont know how many times. My main symptom heartburn, sour taste in mouth burbing and constant throat clearing. Occasional nausea. They have found a sliding hiatus hernia which is definately cause of heartburn. They also found 2 stomach polyps but say these are quite common in people around my age. I also have 2 small segments ? barretts of which they have taken biopsies will have to wait for opa for results By the sound of it you may have a hernia You can go for a barium meal which is less invasive unfortunately for me this test showed nothing wrong but it may be different with you . The other way around it is an endoscope the majority of people have no problem with this test and they do give sedation if you ask for it. Maybe this is the best route to go as I amsure you want to know what is causing the problems and if you leave it you will only become more and more anxious if your symptoms dont subside. Good luck

Re: Gastroscopy succssefull at last

It seems strange I have never suffered heartburn with my A.R.
An Endoscopy showed Hiatal-Hernia and A.R. IBS and Diverticulitis were shown with Colonoscopy.
Aside from Nexium when I am having a flare up, the best thing for me has been changing my diet not eating three hours before bedtime and eating smaller meals. My H.H does cause lots of indigestion and burping.
All the best to everyone. Solofelix.

Hi, I've had surgery for my HH and also a nissens, which is where they do a wrap to tighten your oesophageal valve. Anyway, the omeprazole gave me horrible bloating and I think taking them is what gave me reflux in the first place. The thing is, you need acid to digest your food. The omeprazole stops it, so you have trouble with digestion, hence the bloating.

I still have problems, even though I've had the surgery.

I'm trying to manage on ranitidine and gaviscon, and I won't take a PPI again, as I just exchange one load of trouble for another.

I've cut out alcohol, salads, fatty foods, chocolate and I eat smaller meals. I never eat dairy. Have a good look at your diet.

Re: Resent gastroscopy results help!

Its a juggling act with ones diet when you have these symptoms.
Ive found since leaving off Probiotics and Nexium that a number of my symptoms have improved.
Small meals and often along with eating as healthy foods as possible have helped a lot.
At present I take just Gaviscon when needed and also Domperidone.
My Hiatal-Hernia which dosent require surgery at present can play up with indigestion and burping.
Its possible to have too little Acid than too much. Solofelix.
