Consistent Sphincter of Oddi problems since May... pls help me
I feel like I'm going into a depression dealing with this stuff and being in pain. Last year I was DX with Barretts Esophagus after having an Upper GI for chest pains, after meds failed I had a Hida Scan. It was abnormal so gallbladder removed, Nov. 2010. Since then I've continued to have this pain on the right side, at bottom of ribs deep in chest. In May I had an ERCP done which I was told that he couldn't even get pressures of the schincter b/c it was swollen closed so tight. A week later I had a Nissen Fundoplication as well. My Barretts is much better and the hernia is gone.
However I still have this right sided pain, almost like spasms on and off.
3 weeks ago he did another ERCP, again swollen shut this time both bile ducts not just one, so I had both cut again.
I'm still in pain on and off. I'm taking Zofran about 3-4 times weekly sometimes more, I still have this pain that at times takes my breath away.
My bloodwork has usually turned out normal, slightly high amylast and liver function tests but usually normal.
I've been looking online and wondering if I should request more drastic actions, maybe a duedonal spincteroplasty...not sure if I would qualify for that anyways but I'm desperate.

I really have been feeling poorly. I see my GI again next week but I don't think he will be able to help me further. I don't know why this is so difficult to really treat. Should I request a tube to keep the sphincter open?

I saw my GI and in fact the sphincters are shut off again, so Tuesday we will put stents in. He will remove them in 3 months if it retuns they will need to so a serious surgery.
