I am writing this to get advice or some kind of comfort.
I have had unexplained, intermittent diarrhea for over 6 weeks now. I've gone as long as three days without diarrhea, but then it will strike without warning. This has kept me out of work. (I am a schoolteacher and cannot legally leave the kids alone to run to the bathroom) My GI doesn't know what's causing it. They have done blood tests, stool tests, etc. The blood tests found that I was slightly anemic (new), but that's all. 10 days ago, I had a sigmoidoscopy, and they found nothing unusual. My GI doesn't want to do a colonoscopy because I had one a year ago, and it showed diverticulosis, but nothing else. Also, I have been having upper abdominal pains. I have also, unintentionally lost quite a bit of weight during this time even though, as I say, the diarrhea is intermittent. Today I am scheduled for an endoscopy. I pray to God that they find the cause but also wonder, what shall I do if they do not find the cause today?
I am terrified of going back to work and soiling myself in front of my students
How did the Endoscopy go!!...
I have Diverticulitis and suffer alternating Diarrhea and Constipation, Stomach pains also.
I feel this is connected with your Diverticulitis and for mine I was told to increase my fibre intake.
Let us know how you got on and what you were prescribed. I wish you well, Solofelix.
