My son, age 22, had his gallbladder removed in January 2008. (More on that in another thread, which I'll start maybe tomorrow.) He just called me from CA, where he is on vacation (we live in NJ), to tell me that his stool is light beige, and he was looking for reassurance that it wasn't a problem. (It happened just once so far.)

From everything I've read online, it sounds like it could be a problem--potentially a serious one, related to either the liver or pancreas.:(

Has anyone who had a cholecystectomy that long ago experience light-colored stools? I've read that it can occur shortly after the surgery, but have seen nothing about it happening so long afterwards.

I am a very scared mom...

What has he been eating? I would imagine it's more related to that at this point.

Thank you for your interest, Titchou.

Because my son is on vacation in CA now, I don't know what he has been eating, but I'm sure it's nothing good.;)

I'm trying to calm down and not assume the worst after just one "episode". But if it continues after he has returned home, I'll call the doctor.:(
