strong pulse in my stomache

Hi folks,

I am a 32 year old male and weigh in at around 15 stone.

I have had a strong pulse in my stomache for over a year now but it has recently become more visable mainly when i lie down., if i lie a book on my abdominal area you can see it visably bouncing with my pulse.

I obviously googled my problem (scary) and unfortunatley self diagnosed myself with a possible aortic problem!!!!

I have noticed threads explaning that this problem can occur in skinny/underweight people but i am neither of those i can assure you.

I guess im just trying to put my mind at rest and to see if this is actually a problem or infact perfectly normal.

Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated

thanks all

Re: strong pulse in my stomache

I would love to hear a response on this as well. I get sharp pains in my abdomen from it from time to time. My pulse is crazy strong at times. I do know I have some calcification in my abdominal aorta, don't know if that is of any concern, wasn't told that it was.

Re: strong pulse in my stomache

I have that too, have my whole life. I was told I have a prominent aorta, and nothing more. For most people it's nothing to worry about. Like me, lots of people just have their aorta a bit closer to the surface, or they're quite thin. Some people have suffered aortic aneurysms, but this is not common. If you are worried you should ask your doctor about having an ultrasound.
