About a week ago I felt some slight discomfort in my abdomen. It slowly got worse until on like the 3rd night it kept me from sleeping for 4-5 hours. After that it got a little better and its been pretty constant since then.
The discomfort is a pressure in my upper central abdomen. It's not burning or anything, its just pressure. It starts right after I eat and lasts for 1-2 hours. Occasionally the pain is sharp but its usually very brief and not that intense. Since the pain started I've also been belching and sometimes getting gas for 1-2 hours after eating. Each time I belch the pressure lessens a little bit.
I'm a 20 year old male. About 2 months ago I was diagnosed with Celiac's disease, but I don't think its the cause of the pain since I've never experienced anything like this before and I think I've been pretty careful about avoiding gluten recently. I was diagnosed with duodenal ulcers at the same time and am taking omeprazole for it.
It sounds typical of Duodenal Ulcer.
I have been diagnosed with Hiatal-Hernia and Ulcers and have had the same symptoms as you every time I get an Ulcer. I know the pressure sensation you describe, mine is generally just above the bellybutton area and the belching is typical too although I get that with my H.H.
Its really annoying as an Ulcer takes so long to heal, at least mine do.
Omeprazole is the correct treatment as it lessons the Acid in your stomach giving the Ulcer time to heal.
Were you checked for H.Pylori, I had similar symptoms with that.
I wish you well,
It might interest you to know that when I take omeprazole I get a lot of discomfort and pain in my stomach. My stomach gets very bloated, especially after I eat. Have a look at the side effects in your leaflet.
They did test for H. Pylori and didn't find anything. The thing is I've been taking omeprazole for two months and have probably had these ulcers for a lot longer, but I first started having these symptoms only a week ago. Why did these symptoms just spontaneously appear a little less than 2 months into treatment?

Have you tried leaving of the Omeprazole and see what happens. I seem to have improved since leaving mine off.
My GI Dr told me it is fine to take them for short periods and that's what I do.
Don't leave off (cold turkey) Taper off weekly e.g. 40 mg/20 mg/10 mg per day and see how you feel, if no better see your Dr.
I stopped taking the omeprazole for 3 or 4 days and the pressure has not improved. It might even be getting worse. Could this maybe be a hiatal hernia?
