Thank you for your response. Although your answer to my question about my husband's enlarged common bile duct makes sence, unfortunatly, the gallstone wasn't the problem. He was hosptalized the 1st of December 2011 to have his galbladder removed. He was in the hospital for over 5days. Upon removing the galbladder, they THEN discoverd that his common bile duct is enlarged 4x's the normal size. They did the ERCP to clean out whatever "sludge" or stones may have been in the enlarged common bile duct, but we are comming upon the end of Feb. & he is STILL in INTENSE, MASSIVE pain. The GI doctor who has been seeing my husband believes that the Methadone he has been on over the past several years is the cause, but I have found NO studies or link to Methadone & an enlarged common bile duct. Now, my husband IS positive for hep-c, but the doctor doesn't believe that this would cause the common bile duct to enlarge. Unfortunatly, the doctor refuses to prescribe ANY medications to my husband because he is on the Methadone. He wont even prescribe non-narcotic meds to ease the constant spasms he struggles with hourly. If there are ANY suggestions you can make to help us, your efforts would be most graciously appriciated. We are considering seeking out another GI specialist for a 2nd opinion. He has NO quality of life at all in the least bit, & suffers constantly from the pain & total discomfort. Thanks again....
