| Esophageal spasms? or something else?
Every once in a while this will happen. If I drink, water especially, and I drink it too fast or too much at once, like too big of a gulp, I'll get this cramp in my neck, kind of under my jaw line. And at the same time, I'll get a "stitch" in my side, but kind of around my back. It will cramp up for a few minutes and then fade, but still continue to ache. The pain radiated into my shoulder and shoulder blade and sometimes the back of my head. It feels like a "brain freeze" kind of affect or a charlie horse where the pain is really intense and then subsides to an ache. The only thing I could find is that it could be esophageal spasms? I do have mild reflux and a small hiatal hernia. Could these all be related?? Do esophageal spasms cause the referred pain like that in your neck, jaw, back etc? And does cold water trigger it?
