Strange stomach episodes unexplainable!

hey folks,

I've had this problem with my stomach for the better part of the last decade now, it started in the summer of 2004 or 5... and it's always been exactly the same...

First, i get throbbing/constant pain in my stomach area- not achy, but really jabbing pain. The pain would come on mildly and become increasingly worse over the span of about 12 hours, to the point where i literally writhe around moaning because of the pain. I then proceed to vomit, about 2 times usually, and the pain would intensify even worse for about 15 minutes, then die off entirely, leaving my abdominal region sore for the next couple days.

it came every... 3-5 weeks, or so. the first few episodes me and my parents concluded that it was probably an odd stomach bug... but it kept happening like clockwork, plaguing me for 8-12 hours - with pain that on several occasions even made me faint (and once i was even given Morphine via IV at a hospital, but to no avail, the pain did not cease). the next day, i'd pretty much feel fine...

after this happened about 4 times, doctors thought it was a gastritis problem, but this theory was later debunked by a specialist who said it would have to be nearly constant pain, and in my lower right abdomen, whereas what i've had is strictly in the middle, right above my belly button.

The stomach specialist theorized that perhaps I had a twisted intestine, suggesting that the throbbing was my food trying to push through, and ending up being vomited out because it couldnt move along through my digestive system. I was then prescribed a powdery medicine which i was instructed to mix with water and drink with my meals, it was supposed to help break down my food so that it could move through easier, i guess. The episodes didn't decrease, and the medicine just gave me the runs...

Later on, i took a Barium Swallow test to see if there was some type of obstruction in my intestinal tract, which turned out to be normal.

The study did, however, reveal that i appeared to have quite a bit of impacted fecal material in my intestines. I then recieved multiple colonic treatments - basically an enima of several gallons of hot water pumped through my large and small intestines - in which nearly 15 lbs of impacted materials were extracted. I was sure this was the problem since i was told that most 13 year-olds dont have that much junk stuck in their system, but then i continued getting the exact same episodes.

after that, my mother (being the health nut that she is) convinced me it had to do with my diet, and I then cut out sugar almost entirely from my diet for over a year and a half. the episodes actually decreased to about every 6-8 weeks, but continued until i decided it wasnt working and we had to think about something else..

we then turned to alternative medicine, we saw a doctor specializing in this practice and he did his witch-doctor evaluations and said what i was suffering from was a "strong neurological discharge" and said that was a variation of a seizure... I really don't know about that, as after many many many hours of online searching i've found very little to nothing linking seizures to anything relatively close to what I've been getting.

However, he DID somehow determine that my body was severely deficient in Folic Acid - aparently something found mostly in fish and other seafoods (and since i am deathly allergic to sea foods, that is understandable) - so he told me to take Folic Acid dietary suppliments, which i did, and lo and behold, the stomach episodes decreased to 2-3 times per YEAR!

I then increased the dosage per time i had an episode, in hopes that this would decrease it further, but no dice. Additionally, in the time that i've been on the suppliments, the episodes have gotten different.. for the worst..

What happens now, is that it lasts MUCH longer, 16-17, maybe even 18 hours. I also puke 5-7 times, and continue to dry-heave when there isnt even stomach acid left to barf up. I mean, theres actually nothing left. I sit at my computer gagging and don't even need a trash can, because theres NOTHING inside me. I try a teaspoon of water, and cant keep it down, but once the episode finally subsides, i can eat and drink all i want, and keep it down like a champ. the pain doesnt go away after puking either...

I am in college now, and luckily the only two episodes ive had in the 7 months since i started were on long weekends or vacations that i was back home for...

It's nice having less of these problems, but when they happen the pain is so horrible any ordinary person who hasn't seen this happen to me before would think i'm dying or something... and it's hard to always live in fear of something like this happening to me. I'm sick of being in pain, and it has been very hard to cope with over the years.

If anyone has heard of something like this, or has something similar, or knows of a cure, which i doubt, please please please reply.

thank you so much and god bless.

~Luke
