Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

Hi

I am new to this forum but to H.Pylori. I was diagnosed with it 18 months ago, since then I haven't been able to get rid of it!

They first put me on a triple course of antibiotics for a week. I felt fine and it had seemed to have gone for a month. Then the symptoms came back! The doctor didn't think it was H.Pylori again so he sent me for a camera down the throat, which proved it was. I was then put on another weeks course of different antibiotics. Again I felt good for a month, then the tiredness, stomach ache, heart burn (The list goes on) came back. Doctor did a stool sample and found I still had the little bu**ers!

I actually thought I was being re-infected by my partner and so got him tested, but he doesn't have it!

My doctor didn't know what to do as he never had anyone not respond to 2 courses of antibiotics, so sent me to a specialist at the hospital. The specialist didn't trust the results of the stool sample so sent me for another camera down the throat. Of course it came back positive for H.Pylori! He recommended I have another treatment of different antibiotics but for 14 days. That was terrible, felt sick the whole time but I kept to it, I even cut out acid type foods as I thought this would help. Again, I felt good for a month and even had my energy back for a week! Once again I have symptoms of H.Pylori and once again I am off for another camera down the throat!

That's 3 courses of antibiotics in the space of 12 months and 3 cameras in the space of 6 months!

I am not sure what else they can do for me, I really want to get rid of this bacteria as it has now given me chronic fatigue! Please can any help with any other solutions! I will try anything!

Thanks!

I hear you. I am in the same boat as you. I have been on antibiotics twice now but my symtoms persist. i have tried mastic gum, probiotics and no improvement. I am also looking for a solution. Just yesterday i started drinking aloe vera juice diluted in water I can't say it is helping. if anyone has ideas let us know.

Re: Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

I am going to try that mastic gum after my next camera on Wednesday, see how that goes. Got nothing to loss really! My main issue is the chronic fatigue, if anyone has any advise on how to combat this then that would be great!

Re: Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

Hi,
I had H.Pylori two years ago and after treatment was told it was gone (stool test and second Endoscopy).
Now I have every symptom that it is back again, am taking Nexium but no relief. I suffered terrible with the Antibiotics, Clarithromycin made me feel so Ill, I dont want to take any Antibiotics again.
I am going to try (Molkosan Lactofermented Whey) in liquid form, Have read good reports on it
and hope I might hear from someone who has tried it.
Would like to hear from anyone who has cured H.Pylori (or the symptoms) without Antibiotics.
If all else fails I will have another Endoscopy.
I wish you all well,

Solofelix.

You poor thing!!...
I really feel for you. The Antibiotics for H.P almost finished me they made me feel so ill.
To go through this treatment so many times is unbelievable.
You will see my thread further down and see I have all the symptoms again.
Is it possible that the bacteria showing up in the biopsy might just be Candida. Its sure to be prominate after that amount of antibiotics.

They sent all my results off to be tested and they came back as H.Pylori.

But I have some good news, I had the camera again today and the results came back negative for H.Pylori I wont celebrate just yet as I want to wait for the biopsy results to come back. However it does make me concerned that if they have gone as to why I am still getting all the same symptoms as before! Maybe I have something else the H.Pylori was masking?! I have doctors tomorrow to discuss why this could be and maybe get some more tests done.

I feel for anyone who has this, my advise is to keep trying no matter how many times you have to take antibiotics. Dont give up no matter how hard it gets!

I will keep you all posted about the results and my next steps.

I just just looked at the symptoms and even though I have a few I don't have the main ones, like mouth sores or white spots etc. So I don't think I have Candida, but I will mention it to my doctor.

Re: Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

Hi KIzzie,
Since I had treatment for H.Pylori nearly two yrs ago my stomach has played me up since.
After my treatment I felt great for some months and then everything went down hill stomach wise.
I didn't know at the time that after Antibiotics you should get straight onto Probiotics to replace good bacteria lost during treatment.
It is possible to get intestinal candida after antibiotics, but as far as I know Drs dont pay much attention to it.
I wish you well and keep me updated,

Solofelix.

Re: Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

Hi KIzzie,
Have you seen your Dr yet, if so how did it go.
Saw my own Dr today, she dosent think I have H.Pylori again but I do. I have exact same symptoms as before.
She has put me back on Nexium and Domperidone and I have to see her in a months time, if no better back I go for the scope again as thats the only test they do where I live. I dont think I will do another month of this!!...
I have awful bloating/burping constantly/ gas and short of breath.
What are your symptoms and what are you taking for it.

Solofelix.

Re: Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

The doctor wants to wait for my biopsy to come back before celebrating, but he sent me for some blood tests to test my thyroid and blood count. Will have to wait for 14 days for the results! I have a consultants appointment at the hospital on the 24th so will keep you posted.

I am guessing once we have H.Pylori we are more likely to get it again in the future. Which is frustrating cause Doctors either think we aren't taking the anitibiotics right or it isn't H.Pylori! Doctors just aren't trained enough on this stuff!

Re: Can't seem to get rid of H.Pylori

The stomach ph should be a 5.0. Many people especially those older than fifty get low on HCL stomach acid. The stomach acid is responsible for destroying any bacteria that comes into the body with food like h pylori. Antiboiotics destroy the good bacteria and cause yeast overgrowth and that yeast overgrowth will actually cause the stomach to become more alkaline leaving you wide open to ingesting bacteria that does not belong in the body as well as poor digestion of protein that feeds other unwanted guests in the colon. Idealy a stomach that produces good stomach acid alkalizes the blood and cancer thrives in an acid blood condition. easy thing to remember is acid blood means not enough stomach acid, plenty of good stomach acid means alkaline blood. There is a way the body functions by nature and that way is not with massive doses of antibiotics that ultimately makes the condition worse.
