Experts on Gastro problems, please help me get my life back! :(
Hi guys,
Ive had the weirdest issue going on now for a stupidly long time (14months). I tried a detox of only eating fruit for 7 days to help cleanse my body. I chose grapes and after 3 days i fell violently ill. It felt like stupendous nausea, as if my body was being crushed. I went back to my normal eating habits straight away but couldnt shake the intense nausea and ill feeling. After 3 months of feeling incredibly nauseous and sick so much to the point that i didnt leave the house for 3 months, i began taking a supplement called Hydro Zyme which helped to add more stomach acid (following advice of a family friend who is a nutritional therapist) and i began to feel better. However the stomach acid supplement didnt help me feel 100% again. Now, its been 1 and a half years now and i havent recovered.
I wake up every morning and feel sick/nauseous all day long. The only thing that helps the nausea to go away a little bit is to constantly keep my stomach full of food ALL DAY LONG. I know this is a really weird problem, and makes no sense, believe me, ive seen so many doctors and had so many tests. The only thing that came back is a H.Pylori infection, which i had treatment for, and a recent stool sample said that the infection has gone.
Does any one have any idea what has happened to me and why i cant shake this? Ive been so ill now for so long, i have lost my job and ive had to drop out of university. I feel sick ALL day long, and massively nauseous. The doctors dont have a clue what to do with me. I was completely fine before i eat grapes every day for a few days (I know how crazy it sounds)

Thanks for the reply!
Im at a student doctors, so over the last 14 months ive seen a few regular GPs. Been sent to a neurologists and ENT specialists to rule out neurological and ENT problems causing the nausea/sickness/headaches (even though im specifically sure that its all coming from something to do with my stomach due to the super fast onset with the grapes, and the only thing that makes me feel better is full stomach + stomach acid tablets). Ive had colonoscopies and endoscopies done which were fine, apart from the H.pylori. Obviously, ive been evaluated for depression and anxiety too - which i didnt need treatment for, as of which i am only depressed now anyway as im ****** off at feeling sick and massively nauseous so much 24/7 that i cant get anything done!
Each time i go to the doctor now im told they are not sure what else they can do!

Yeah i tried Omerprazole, once on its own and once as part of the H pylori treatment but it had no effect at all. The stomach acid pills that i do take to increase acid were my saviour from the horrendous nausea/sickness that occured when i began the grape cleanse, and so i still take them now as they helped at first.
Havent tried any other medications for GI as my doctors dont believe me when i said that it all came on suddenly from the grape thing, and they have told me on a couple of occasions that the grapes would not have caused these symptoms. Especially not for this long. >
I havent been back in a few months as a result of this, and im just suffering!

Have you had an ultrasound? HIDA scan for gallbladder function? I'm wondering if the grapes only diet messed with your gallbladder. Too little fat in the diet can just like too much.

Oh gosh... I am so sorry for you! Maybe it is time to think about seeking the advice of a nutritionist. If that is unavailable to you because of finances, try searching on the web for a good healthy nutritional program... and follow it! Have you checked your vitamin d levels? I would suggest adding vitamin d, vitamin k (MK-4), magnesium, vitamin B (all of them). Also important is a good probiotic (the refrigerated kind). I think if there is no underlying cause, that if the grapes did start something weird in motion, by following a good nutritional program and getting some exercise (even walking for 45 min. a day), in a couple of months you will fill like a changed man! I want to add that for me, adding vitamin d made a huge difference in my health. It was not an overnight thing, but after several months it was obvious that I felt much better AND I almost never get sick now... I once got every cold that came around! Good luck to you sweetie!

My experience with H. Pylori took it's toll on my body and the after effects lasted for years. I had to have several more endoscopies because the H Pylori was all the way up in my esophagus and did some cell damage. Every time that was checked (by endoscopy) my stomach was always inflamed and they couldn't figure out what was causing it. I had several GI tests and an endoscopic ultrasound. They couldn't find out why my stomach was so irritated, they just eliminated possible causes. I ended up losing 40 pounds. The only medication that gave any relief was Nexium. It had to be Nexium, none of the generics worked. I became extremely anemic. The anemia was finally taken care of. What they couldn't resolve was low Vitamin B-12 and low Vitamin D. I get B-12 injections monthly, but my Vitamin D level remains low, even with mega doses. I've had to give up so many foods and alcohol to keep my stomach in check. I have a running prescription for Nexium, because even tho I changed my eating habits, my stomach can flare up any time. H Pylori is a disease that doctors don't know much about, especially long term results. I don't think it even had a name until the 1980's. There are some websites to read and when doctors discover anything regarding HP they add the information.
Good luck to you! I hope you feel better soon.
