Talking gas suggestions appreciated

hello
Just looking for some suggestions from anyone with similar issues-really not sure if this is right thread.
For about 5 months i have had a pretty bad problem i.e constant everyday with excess gas in stomach and needing to burp throughout day although very often it wont come and gas goes back down. the gas sometimes feels like it is just there all day in the throat.In addition i have had problems with abdominal/stomach pain,bit of rectal pain,retching,very mild constipation and a little bit of heartburn/reflux.
Initially doctors thought it was reflux and i was on omeprazole/domperidone etc but issue still remained.I had a gastroscopy and all was ok and clear.Specialist said he thought it was a functional disorder related to ibs or some food disorder. so am now trying a lactose free diet and see what happens.
Has anyone suffered similar/have sugestions of things to try that it could be causing this constant gas in stomach?
any help greatly appreciated

Before my gallbladder was diagnosed as being non-functional, I used to belch constantly, along with bloating and nausea. After surgery, it got way better but did not entirely go away. So you can try this, chew your food throughly, and I mean chew each bite 50 times, eat very slowly, so you're not swallowing a lot of air. And eat 4-6 very small meals rather than large ones. Another thing, what is your diet like? Low fat, high fiber has been working for me, with lots of water, but not during meals! You might also try a Probiotic, and p.s. are you a female? If you are going lactose free, please make sure you're getting enough calcium to avoid problems with osteoporosis later on. Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

CJones,

Every cell in the body contains magnesium and it is also needed for calcium absorption as well vitamin D.If your esophagus ---both upper & lower valves do not function properly ---it will cause gas to not escape--- 80% of gas is caused from swallowing air.
Magnesium is in lots of foods but is easily lost--- an alcololic drink cuses the releases 5 times the amount of magnesium in your urine after the drink than before--- just an example of how readily magnesium is lost.
There is a homeopathic remedy ---Mag Phos that can be used to relax spases as well as cramps--of all muscles--- 6X potency will do and can be bought from most Health Food Stores but mineral are needed long term!!!

I suggest you read some of Bluepumkins sticky thread at the top of this page -- he had a hiatal hernia and was treated for 9 years before taking magnesium supplement from Wal Mart. I like and use chelated minerals best--- by Albion Labs--- I also use Swanson products...They relatively inexpensive and readily avavailable.
The Poster above is also good advice. You need these minerals anyway to live a healthier life.
I also eat yogurt(Stonyfield) & Kefir to maintain good friendly intestinal bacteria.
