Talking Sphincter of Oddi - New Surgery!

I had a new surgery done for my Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction and have been pain free for 2 months now. I am not taking any meds and have not had an attack since my surgery! If you would like to know more, please let me know.

I had a sphincterotomy 2 years ago. The surgery I had 2 months ago is brand new.

Yes, I had a sphicterotomy 2 years ago. My dr. had just gone to a seminar a couple of weeks before he performed the new surgery on me. I was the second person he performed it on. He inserted a balloon into the scar tissue that had formed from the sphinterotomy. I was almost completely closed. He then expanded the balloon. It tore small cuts and left a hole about 7 tenths of an inch. He said that I would get scar tissue again but it wouldn't close up again because the small tears would not create the scar tissue as much. He said that I have an unusually large sphincter muscle and it is located higher under my rib cage than most people. I had my gall bladder removed about 18 years ago and have suffered excruciating attacks, hospital stays, trips to the ER and have taken many different meds. My whole digestive system is better now. I take no meds and have not had any attacks since this new surgery 2 months ago. I want to tell as many people as I can about this new surgery. No one should have to suffer with this any longer if this surgery works for them.

Deb481, I would like to know all your information. I'm still being diagnosed. I've EGD, Impedance Study and a plethora of xrays. Getting ready to go for stomach emptying study, but your dysfunction sounds like my symptoms.
