Unhappy feeling terrible..dont know whats wrong :(

I have had stomach issues since the 6th grade. After a year and a half of stabbing sternum pain and feeling nauseous all the time, I was referred to a Gastroenterologist who did an upper endoscopy and found out I had severe gastritis along with h. Pylori infection. After many medications it finally went away. Had a 2nd endoscopy for continuing symptoms and I was all clear but there was a possibility it was reoccurring I think, don't remember. It left me with chronic gastritis and acid reflux. Now I am 20 years old and I have daily stomach aches/nausea and it is hard to deal with because I have emetophobia. I always think its a stomach virus and I'm going to start throwing up. Over the past few days I have had really bad night time nausea along with excessive gas. What could this be? I'm tired of suffering. I just want to feel normal again. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: feeling terrible..dont know whats wrong :(

Chronic gastritis and reflux is no fun, I get that too.

There are options to manage it better, though. You could ask your doctor for some Zofran or Compazine for the nausea, and possibly something for the pain, such as Carafate. Proton pump inhibitors are an option, too, but once you start them it's tough to quit.

Best thing is to find yourself a really good gastroenterologist, possibly one who works at a teaching hospital.
