Gatroparesis and Dumping syndrome???

i was diagnosed with gastroparesis last year in november through a gastric emptying scan and based on symptoms. been very sick for 2 years . was sent to a specialist last week to seek out treatment options being the pills dont help. they did another gastric emptying scan but this time it now shows severe rapid emptying!? and they have no idea why or how this happend. have you heard of anything like this? is it possible to have both? or did my stomach decide to act up this day? very confused... i have no signs or symtoms for dumping syndrome . my doctor claims hes never heard of anything like this happening?

Re: Gatroparesis and Dumping syndrome???

My first thought if a cause for the gastroparesis was never identified is that this is either medication induced, if you are still taking a peristalsis stimulator, or you may have autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Those nerves control the peristalsis activity in the gut, and can be sluggish or hyperactive intermittently. Not a lot of Drs are versed in this, but I would start with neurology, peripheral neuropathy, and try to find a doc who specializes in autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Good luck and keep us posted!
