Question Could this be an ulcer?

I cannot have gluten, it causes me to vomit. It took a long time to figure out but a gluten free diet helped a lot. However, the past week or two I have been vomiting again. I have noticed a small amount of fresh blood on the toilet tissue after a bm. Yesterday, my ribs, and stomach hurt pretty bad and got worse when I inhaled. I actually felt as though I could not fill my lungs all the way. Does this sound like it could be an ulcer? I am terrified to go to a doctor. I have ignored so many problems for so long and was told that I was at a higher risk for cancer from the many years of vomiting and all the damage it did to my esophagus. I am going to find a new doctor today and make an appointment.

Re: Could this be an ulcer?

Usually ulcers cause stools to be "black" instead of red with blood because the blood gets broken down by the acids in your stomach. The bleeding you're getting is probably an internal hemorroid or polyp since it is bright red. Your other symptoms still warrant a visit to a gastrologist if they are regular and bother you...He or she can also check for your "blood" problem also to find out where it is coming from...The Doc may schedule you for a colonoscopy and or EGD test if the reasons aren't apparent for your symptoms. Good luck and keep us informed of what you find out.
