Is 90 days of Prilosec OTC a good treatment for possible gastritis?

So I sometimes get nauseous at night, especially after drinking even a small amount of alcohol, and I have lost about 12 lbs over the past year despite not changing much about my diet and I'm now underweight. I'm 26, fit, and eat very healthy and am otherwise fine. My doctor said she thinks I might have gastritis but did not do any sort of test, this was just based on these symptoms.

She said to take Prilosec OTC for 3 months and come back to see her after that. My question is, is it really the best course of treatment to take 20mg of Prilosec OTC for possible gastritis? The package says not to take it for more than 14 days or every 4 months, so it just seems a bit excessive for something that might not even be the problem. Most of the time I feel fine, just after certain meals and after drinking alcohol (maybe 2-3 nights a month I feel queasy at night). What do you all think?
