| right abdominal pain when standing
I started having right abdominal/flank pain a year ago. After a long road of many doctors and many tests I was diagnosis with a "symptomatic floating kidney." I had surgery to basically tack my kidney to my back, which was sure to relieve the pain.
I quickly began having pain again post surgery. I'm starting to think perhaps the pain was not from the kidney. I had a follow-up scan of my kidney to see if it was "dropping" when I stood up, however I was assured my kidney was right where the surgeon fixed it in place, with absolutely no ptosis.
I thought I might describe my pain to see if anyone has similar symptoms with GI issues.
The pain is in my upper/mid right abdomen. Below my last ribs. The pain is colicky. It is wave-like...I'll have a shoot of pain that lasts a few seconds, then it slowly subsides.... then it happens again in 10s, 20s, or 30sec....no real pattern with the "break" in the waves. When I press on this area of my abdomen, I typically feel gurgling sounds, but not always. The only thing that helps the pain go away is to LIE DOWN. Usually this is a no-fail treatment for it. I have never been able to connect any food with the pain. Bowel movements are normal and never changed when I started having this pain a year ago.
Any ideas?
