Ya know, I wish this title was overly dramatic but, it's really not. My life pretty much stopped 2 years ago this month. It started with symptoms of shortness of breath, palpitations & severe GERD out of nowhere following a course of amoxicillin for a sinus infection. This may or may not be a coincidence, I don't know. I went from being a super active, health conscience, happy person to being completely disabled and unable to work virtually, overnight. No one knew what was wrong and I got passed around to the wrong specialists and misdiagnosed to no end.
A few months into this, I had an endoscopy. In it, was revealed that I had gastritis and a peptic ulcer. I tested negative for h pylori. That GI specialist failed to acknowledge any connection between my sudden breathing issues, stomach pain and the endoscope findings. In hindsight, this assessment is astoundingly ignorant for a gastro specialist.
Anyway, every day I wake up I wish i hadn't. Dietary changes don't seem to make much of a difference.
My symptoms are constant 24/7: burning in stomach, acid reflux, regurgitation, bouts of severe weakness/dizziness, constant shortness of breath, back pain adjacent to the stomach.
In all my research, most peptic ulcers & severe gastritis are a result of h pylori. My father suffered from h pylori several years back. He did triple therapy and was cured. My current GI doc insists that I don't have h pylori, but i'm not so sure. 88% of all peptic ulcers are from h pylori.
What do you guys think? Has anybody on here been disabled from working because of this? Anyone here ever have this array of symptoms? I'm open to ANY thoughts, suggestions, referrals or advice on this debacle.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate it.

Hi, Three years ago I had bleeding from my stomach. An Endoscopy showed I had had an Ulcer and was positive for H.Pylori.
I had all your symptoms leading up to my test. I was prescribed two types of Antibiotic and a PPI. Six months later an Endoscopy showed I was negative for H.P.
However at that time it was found I had a Hiatal-Hernia. This causes me shortness of breath and symptoms like yours on occasions. In between I can feel OK.
It sounds like you should be on a PPI, this is what I was prescribed. As for whether your GI Dr was correct about the H.P, I cant say. I do know that all your symptoms can certainly relate to A/R, Gerd or Hiatal-Hernia.
What have you been prescribed?... PPIs need to be taken for 6-8 wks before you can make a decision as to if they are working,
Wishing you well,
Thanks for the thoughtful reply Solofelix, I appreciate it. I've tried PPI's but they never seem to help much on their own anyway...
Besides that the side effects I get when taking omeprozele are really tough for me. After you received antibiotic treatment for h pylori did your symptoms improve??

After treatment for H.P I initially felt great and then about three months down the road I developed all sorts of stomach issues similar to the H.P symptoms but another test revealed no H.P and it appears my stomach issues were related to Antibiotic treatment.
I have since read that this is not unusual. In all it was a good whole year before I felt better and I still get flare ups now and then and take Nexium for short causes.
There are many types of PPIs and perhaps you could try a different brand.
I wish you well as I know how you feel and hope you will soon feel much better,
Wow sounds to me like a catch 22. Well, I just don't what to do anymore. I haven't proceeded with the triple therapy kinda for that reason. I'm scared it may make a bad situation worse. From what I've researched, it seems that it's highly advised to pump yourself full of probiotics following the triple therapy course. I just don't know what to do anymore. Do you mind me asking, were the symptoms different after the HP triple therapy or the same? What symptoms did you suffer from before and what symptoms have you experienced after?
I'm really curious. Hope to hear back from you, thanks again I really appreciate your time.
My symptoms before were a strong sense of regurgitating my food, not vomiting but the feeling of food coming back up after eating. Also an awful dull pain between my bellybutton and my lower rib area. Constant belching and bloating. Constant Indegestion.
As my Hiatal-Hernia was found after treatment for H.P, that could be partly to blame.
When I get symptoms now it is mainly indigestion, nausea, shortness of breath.
All the other symtoms went after the treatment.
I really think that the latter symptoms are connected to my Hiatal-Hernia and they do not bother me too much. (I do try to watch what I eat but not always).
Just to be sure I have no more H.P, I sent off a stool sample to a private clinic a year ago and the result was Negative.
Hope this helps you,
