Treatment for Ulcer/H. Pylori

Hello,
I am currently being treated for an ulcer/h. pylori with two weeks of Clarithromycin, Flagyl and Omeprazole. I am into my second week and feel worse than I did before the treatment. At least before the pain would come and go but for the last three days I have been in constant pain and really queasy My upper belly area feels and looks swollen and also have pain radiating to my back.

I called my doctors office and she said that the antibiotics and Omeprazole can cause the pain and discomfort and I should continue for as long as I can bear it. If it gets unbearable I should call back.

Has anyone been treated for an ulcer before and had the same experience? If so what did you do for relief? I can barely eat and feel so run down.

Thanks Smoochkin! I actually decided to stay on it and was still feeling lousy for about two weeks after my treatment ended. I feel great now! No more pains, still get the occasional sour stomach but nothing like I was feeling. I flooded myself with probiotics during and after treatment and drank tons of water. For me I guess my doctor was right about feeling worse before feeling better with the treatment.

Re: Treatment for Ulcer/H. Pylori

The treatment for H.Pylori is really awful. I'm surprised you were treated for two whole week's. Where I live the same treatment as your's is for seven day.
I felt so ill during my treatment that I swore if it returned I would never take medication for it again. After (positive) treatment I felt great for about two week's and then "Wham"... every stomach problem under the sun hit me and I had a horrible year after.
Glad to say I am finally back to normal and need no medication but it seam's that a lot of people have stomach problem's for a long while after.
I hope your good health continues,

Solofelix.
