I had to give in and call a lawyer to help me with all of this crap I am having to deal with.my NSs office is holding my records hostage right now,at least the ones with the info that i need anyway.this situation is just unbelievable!!all i need is for the NSs office to confirm dxs and also mention at least somewhere, that a nerve was hit and lost during my spinal cord surgery and that they were not able to remove all of the lesion in there.I have gotten the op notes and to read through them, you would think that this was a picture perfect surgery, when in fact a nerve was hit and lost and i am suffering dearly for it right now.
Does anyone out there know just what leagally has to be written up in the op notes of a surgery?Purple???I would think that anytime that a surgery has to come to a stop(which mine did when they lost the nerve and had to wait a few minutes to see if it would recover)that this would have to be noted.it also has at the top a little check box thing that says 'no complications'which is checked off.The only thing that might save me with regard to having the nerve injury documented is that i managed to find the name of the neurophysiatrist that did the intraoperative monitoring of my motor and sensory responses during the surgery(NOT an easy task!!),and as we speak, a copy of his op notes are on the way to my home.i managed to find a very sympathetic employee in the intraop dept there that took pity on me and my situation.i am soo hoping that this will contain the documentation that I so desperately need.
sorry for the vent but god, is this not just insane??please say a prayer for me and wish me luck that this will all work out.We are currently just totally drowning in medical dept right now as between me and my son(transplant recipient and just also dxed with being bi polar)the dang medical bills just never stop.i am afraid that we will end up losing our home here.Things have gotten THAT bad.unfortunetly, i know that many of you are in this same situation, and believe me, my heart goes out to you too.
i will let you know just what i find out. Marcia
