Question what now?

My fiance' was hit by a car while on his bicycle. (His ex wife did this, couldn't press charges on her cause would show intentional act and her insurance would not cover his injuries) He suffered 2 herniated discs one in his lower back one in his neck. He has had his first set of cortizone shots two more sets then surgery, if shots don't work. My ? He was struck on July 24, 2002 filed for ssi and ssdi (cause he was taken out of work by doctor) 6 months later he was denied ... so we've gotten a lawyer and filed reconsideration over a year ago. SS has gotten all of his med records but the lawyer says they haven't moved on his case. It's been two years since he's gotten hurt. We have a 14 month old son and i work full time but not having his income is killing us. He lost his home due to this and social security is dragging their feet. What are we to do?? How long can they do this to us, if it wasn"t for my parents the three of us would be out on the street. It's criminal what social security is doing to him. Don't they have a statue of limitations on how long they can drag their feet?? When will we get the help we need that we paid into...how long can this honestly go on???? Any advice will help!!!!!!State we are in is new jersey.

Re: what now?

Hi Gorillao7,Sorry to hear all you guys are going thru, but why cant he sue his ex. or her insurance company for medical and pain and suffering? That does not seem right, they should be paying all his bills for medical plus a lump payment for his suffering. I would get a lawyer and sue her insurance and to help with ssi, sometimes you need a lawyer, I always say the ones you need it cant get it, we pay for years into and when we need it we cant get it without a fight. Some people get it and there is nothing wrong with them,I dont get it. Well dont give up the fight, I hope things get better for you guys, hang in there, it will get better.
Hope all goes well

Re: what now?

we are suing her insurance company, but they went bankrupt, so the state of new jersey has stepped in. Plus she is saying that he never got hurt from her hitting him, but yet we have hospital records from that day....we have a good lawyer but with the insurance co. going bankrupt i mean what else can go wrong????......and the fight goes on!!Any idea how long ss can make us wait?? P.S. thanks cookie!!!!!!!

Re: what now?

Hi Gorilla,
I really dont know too much about ssi, I hurt my back at work in2002 and had back surgery, so I have been on w/c for almost 2 years. I did call ssi, because it does not look like I will be going back to work with the damage to my leg so I am finding out about ssi, because I am really worriad about health insureance, after w/c settles. I want to make sure I am insured in years to come, it seems like I am in and out for many things going wrong, I just want to know I have insur.I know how you must feel about the insur. company going bankrupt, that would be my luck. I really hope they can help you guys there must be something they can do.
I wish you the best of luck
