What Should I Expect When I Go To See Ss Doc

SS is sending me to a appointed doctor to review my disabilities. What should I expect? I know they are going to find any reason to deny me especially because if I am approved the back pay would go back to Feb. of 2003.

Is there any help all of you can give me with this situation? I have had 4 neck surgeries and 4 back surgeries and I can hardly walk without my legs completly giving out and falling to the floor. My back is even worse now and I need to have a MRI bad but we our just on the verge of loosing our house.

Please can any of you wonderful people give me some advice?

HELP!!!

Deb

Re: What Should I Expect When I Go To See Ss Doc

I havnt been through that yet, but i asked my dr the other day about my fears about going before a judge or dr or what ever the next step may be. I said they will have to drug me to get me to go and he said "dont you dare" you need to go in full boar and let them see your condition. Dont hide anything, dont be modist!!! Remember how bad it actually is when you go in, and tell them. Good luck, it's awful to have to have tell how awful we are, but we are, so it's one time not to hold back......At least was advice given to me.

That's very good advice..on the other hand trying to talk about how much pain is hard to do ..I have held back to tell my husband all the bad news because all he is worried about is our finantial problems and most of all asking his parents for a loan.. He never asks once how I am doing..I am so bad that I will probably not live long enough to see the first check.. And I will not wine and tell him anything about my heath anymore..If I was on my dieing bed he would be hurting I would hope, but he says he's tied of hearing me in pain when we have so many bills to pay.

Thanks
Deb

Hi Deb, when I went to see the ssd doctors, I saw 3 different ones. The first one took your blood pressure, listened to your heart, tested your eyes. The second one was an orthopedic doctor, who performed different things on me. The third was a psychologist, who gave me about an hour of tests. Some were hands on, others were math, memory etc. It wasn't bad at all and nothing to worry about. When they ask you questions, make sure you tell them exactly what's bothering, hurting you. Good luck, Barb

Deb

My son was sent to a government doctor and the visit took about an hour. I also had my son bring his medical records with him from one of his own doctors. I didn't have him bring them all only the one that had the most valuable information. I really don't think those doctors are out to try to make sure the applicants don't get approval. They just want to verify that what is presented in the application appears to be true.

Believe it or not, I had a decent relationship with everyone I dealt with at the SSA on all levels. They were very hel pful to me (I was handling my son's case).

I wasn't in the room with ,y son when the doctor was questioning him. Just tell the truth and I think it will work out fine for you. Good luck.
