Fibromyalgia and SSI - Disabilities Message Board

Does anyone have information about applying for assistance or SSI with fibromyalgia. I am not sure if it is considered a disability. There are some days I cant even stand up for hours, or my hands will get really stiff and stick in weird positions. I am a teacher and I tried going back to work, but I was constantly calling in sick because I wasnt feeling well or couldnt get out of bed. I took this year off from working to try and get myself better but I feel as if I have actually gotten worse. Any information would be helpful.

Fibromyalgia is recognized by SSA as an impairment that can possibly be considered disabling,depending upon the severity of the condition. Ultimately the test (for most folks) is whether or not you are able to work full time at any kind of job and earn $860.00 or more per month. If you can, you are not disabled.
