Just approved yesterday. Questions - Disabilities Message Board

Well, i got a call from my lawyer yesterday and he told me that i had won my case. Finally!! Been battling this since Nov. 2003. Anyway, the hearing took place yesterday and judge found in my favor. My question is how long before i get the approval letter, and start getting the monthly payments (with backpay)
MY lawyer said 2 months before i even get the approval letter. Is this acurate or did i misunderstand him in my elation?

As far as when? I saw the ALJ on 11-30-05. My atty. told me it would take 30 to 45 days to hear a decision. Received my Approval letter 60 days later and then my backpay exactly one week later. Got my Award letter a couple weeks later. Also, received my Medicare card around the same time as my Award letter.
And, speaking of Medicare, you will be given an option of keeping it or signing a letter saying you don't want it. I know there are many who need it, but, in my case, I have very good Ins. from whom I am retired. So, I optioned out of it. In effect, I'll receive more on my monthly check.
