Still waiting for hearing
I am writing on behalf of my dear husband, who has been waiting forever so patiently for his ssi hearing. It has been nearly going on 2 and half years now since he first applied for ssi. With first two times of being turned down, we finally got a lawyer to handle it. We got a letter about a month ago saying they were now preparing for his hearing and needed some paper work filled out and signed and any new medical information to be sent in, so we did this. I was wondering if anyone else got a letter saying they were preparing for thier hearing and how long it takes for them to prepare for it before you actually get a notice of a hearing date?

I'm so sorry that you and your husband are going through this. I know the torture of waiting so long. It was over 3 years after I first applied for SSD (two denials) before I had my hearing (I just found out I was approved ). After I got the letter from my attorney that they needed some additional paper work before the hearing, it was a few months before the hearing was actually scheduled.

Good luck and hopefully his will be scheduled soon.
