Contact your attorney & have him/her explain to you in a way
THAT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND what it means to
YOU by winning your case.
Your attorney is getting paid $$$$$$ off the top of
YOUR settlement by Social Security Disability. Therefore, he/she should be sitting down explaining all the benefits you are entitled to, when to expect payment, yada, yada, yada.............
Each state is different. Therefore, it will be difficult for one of us to advise you "when to expect your $$$$".
As a general rule, if you elected "direct deposit" you may get your $$$ faster than if you elected $$$ by check/mail.
Direct deposit takes a few weeks & you will not be notified. Just keep checking your account every week for a *surprise*.
If the attorney is
NOT doing
ANY of the above, you should notify the Social Security Department
ASAP IN WRITING. They
WILL NOT pay him the
FULL AMOUNT of his fee. In other words,
YOUR settlement amount willl be bigger. You will just be obligated to pay his out of pocket expenses.
BTW, the SSD withholds 5 months not 6 unless there is something going on with your state you have not mentioned.

how do you know what health insurance you get?

Once your Medicare kicks in, you will get a booklet from them. You will also get a booklet from SSDI. Everything will be explained in the Medicare Booklet.
Each state has their own Insurance Program & Prescription Program.
Medicare does not cover dental either!

However, there are ways around that. Depends on your dentist.

Good luck & Happy Holidays!
