Disability Lawyer

I applied for SSD about 5 months ago and of course they denied it and i went and seen a disability lawyer and talked with him and he said he does not take a case if he does not think he is gonna win.well the Social Secuirty folks sent me to a orthopedic doctor and they took xrays of my back and didn't tell me what was wrong. So my lawyer said when he finds out what the doctor said about my back he will let me know.
Do you think he wants to see me to tell me if he will take my case or just to let me know what the doctor said ? Seems like they would have told me what the doctor said when they called me today from the lawyers office to give me a time to come in next monday.

Re: Disability Lawyer

The attorney is taking your case. The initial consultations are always *free*.

Appointments are not!

So be prepared to sign your life away if you decide to hire him (you will *not* be charged for the appointment if you do not want to hire him).

Good luck!

Re: Disability Lawyer

I would be very leery about them making a decision on just an x-ray..Why? because it does not show soft tissue, it only shows bone structures...If your back injury is due to heniated disc, the x-ray will show nothing wrong with your back...

Your case sound like mine in the beginning...When I got my first denial, I contacted an attorney and they said that they would not take my case because it was not winnable...I filed my appeal alone, was denied again...But had over the year sought more medical attention...When I was denied the second time I filed the appeal on my own, and when a year went by and nothing was heard from the SSA, I contacted another attorney and they took my case...I had my hearing about 6 months later and I won my benefits..Before the hearing I was sent to a pdoc and an ortho doc...

If you can get an MRI....I have heard, but don't know if it stands as truth, but SSA won't send people for MRI, as they are to expensive..If you have an ortho, have him/her send you for one if you have not had one....

The maximum fee amount an attorney or representative can receive, however, regardless of how much the Claimant receives in past due benefits, is $5300.00.
How was your attorney able to bypass the cap?
