Yes, be prepared for a long wait...During this wait time, your medical records should be building as well...Keep all appointments and go see your doctors...Keep detailed medical records and don't rely on anyone doing the work for you...Just keep going!!! It took me 4 years from start to finish and finally won my benefits last year....

If you filed on 7/5/06 and you are found disabled your onset date will be one of two things...If the judge finds you disabled before this date, he/she can backdate your disablity date. How they do this is by what your medical records say.....If not, he/she will use your 7/5/06 date as your onset date. What does this mean: Say you recieve an approval on 7/05/09 this is what will happen:
Onset date 7/5/06 award date 7/05/09 = 36 months - 12 months - 5 months = 19 months that will be back paid...
Your backpay will be paid for 19 months...They will remove the first 12 months plus 5 months....So, the first 17 months will not recieve any pay, but you will be eligible for Medicare part A and B right away as your 24 month waiting period would have already past...
