Question New Tests to report...

When you have new tests done or have seen a new doctor Do you send in a copy or have them get the copy? If you send it in who do you send it into? I'm in the reconsideration phase.
Thanks,
Cindy

Hello Cindy: Are you waiting for a hearing? If not, is this your second attempt in writting, filing out application?
If your waiting for a hearing, do you have a lawyer. If you do ,you or he/she should get documents and have them all ready two weeks before the hearing. I always got my stuff, photocopyed then sent to the lawyer. Just to see what was in them.

I went to my hearing today. Boy was I scared, but it really was not that bad. My lawyer asked most of the questions I was told that it looks good. I did not even have vocational expert there. I think my records were good.

So let me know if I answered your questions.
Jeane

Re: New Tests to report...

I'm in the reconsideration phase, no lawyer just doing it on my own.
Who do I send the new test results too?

Cindy

Re: New Tests to report...

Hi Cindy You should have a case worked that you can call who has all the doc's that you have sent in so far.
I don't know what you are getting disability for, but I want to let you know that I really think a lawyer is a good thing. Do you know that they only get a certain amount if you win.
If you get your back pay and it's a lot of money the max they get is 5400.
I have a lawyer and believe me it felt good to know she was in the court with me. Even though I thought she was a ding bat. She new the judge and has been doing this for a long tome.
If you really want to do this alone you need to be in contact with your case worker. You need to know what info they have. You need to keep a file for yourself. Get all doc's sent to you, photocopy then send to you case worker. You want to make sure they do not have any negative things in your file. Also a letter stating that you can not work from your Doc's is a really good thing.
I have been battling this for years. It got so bad waiting for a hearing date I wrote to my senator which helped I got a date. But it took 1 1/2 years to get the date with the judge.

All I am saying is that it is really scary going before a judge. If you have a lawyer doing all the questioning it really helps with the nerves. I also read that judges like to deal with lawyers.

Keep in mind they only get paid if you do,. If you call SS they will send you a copy of the approved lawyers in your area.

Let me know what's going on
Jeane

Re: New Tests to report...

Thanks, I talked to my case worker today.
They do have everything they need now.
Just need to wait.
I think with my case I can do it with out an attorney.
Cindy
