how long does it take to get back pay ssi, I had to wait almost two years to get approved. i finally got approved in May, 2008. i have already gotten my first ssi check and then in august i should receive my ssdi check. i have been told by ssi and ssdi how much back pay i will be getting but they didn't say how long it would take for me to get this. i was wondering after you started getting your ssi and ssdi checks before you get your back pay.

If I have learned one thing about the SSA system, it is nothing is constistant. Everyone seems like thier story is different. Alot of when you get your back pay depends on where you live (and where your payments are coming from),if you had a lawyer,and how much you are owed by SSI and SSDI. It is hard to say. I have read about people getting back-pay before thier 1st check and even before their award letter. Then I have also read about people who wait 6 mos after their 1st payment to recieve thier backpay. I wish I had a straight answer for you, but I doubt their is one. It is kind of a wait and see game. I wish you all the luck and hopefully you fall into one of the catigories that make you a person who gets your money sooner than later-Good luck!-Rachel

so how long did it take to get back pay? i got approved june 2010. got first monthly check in august and no sign of back pay. have called and called and get all kinds of stories and excuses. i am nearly homeless. my savings are almost gone. i have medical needs i cant filfull and no one willhelp anymore. not that i deserve help but anyway if u see this plmk

I would call your local congressman!! They will look into it and light a fire, thats what I did. Just a thought, thats what they are there for, if that doesnt work, the local news media love these kind of stories, cant get worse but might help...never know

thanks i contacted my lawyer and he had not been paid either. there are a few otehr questions i have is there a way to speak privately. or is that all public
