but what are the chances of me getting ssdi for bipolar disorder ?

I got it, approved on first try, after the required 5 month waiting period. I made to much money for SSI.
I think it helped my case that I got disabilty first from my job with the Federal Government.
It also depends on how good your shrink is at writing letters.. Seek help with your county mental health services, they know all the ropes. You got to have all your stuff documented and when they send you that questionaire to fill out, let them know extensivley how bad you are not a 1 or 2 word answer to the questions. Alot depends on what state you live in and the ajudicators and doctors for that state. There is a website that shows the approvals for each state. Use your search engine to find it. I would do it for you but we aren't allowed to post websites on here. I live in Ohio.

my problem is that i haven't even been able to see a psychiatrist yet. i was diagnosed in december of 07 and my insurance is horrible with psych docs. i may finally have one. she is going to call me back after she talks to the doc to see if he wants to see me. i already applied for ssdi and ssi and talked to the ss lady yesterday. i told her that i have yet to see a p doc.

so far i have tried four different medications and so far nothing has worked as of yet. of course i have only been on lamictal for three weeks now.

i have other problems going on as well, with my neck and i have cubital tunnel syndrome and something else going on with my arm that they have yet to figure out. i also have severe anxiety that i take lorazapam (sp?) for.

anyway thanks for the advice. i just can't wait to see a psychiatrist because my primary doc only knows so much kwim?

ohh and i am on disability and have been since january.
