4 Months waiting on ALJ decision

My poor dh is still waiting and hes so depressed and doesnt get out of the bed all day. The waiting is effecting his health even more. Why does it take so long? Do you think it will be a bad decision because its taking so long? Now I am getting sick and missing work I really hope we get a good decision soon. Very worried

Re: 4 Months waiting on ALJ decision

Try not to think about it and make your self sick. I know because I did the same thing.
It took me four months to hear anything about mine after the judge had made up her mind.
It takes so long because the system is back logged due to a shortage of workers at the ss is what I was told.
I don't think it's a bad sign since it is taking so long.
I am not sure about where you live but I called the office of hearings and appeals in my area several times to check on my claim status but then they made it to where your lawyer has to call.
Maybe you could ask your lawyer if you have one to call for you and find soemthing out.
Are you getting help from your local churches ?
I would go to two different ones each month for a box of food.
I know the waiting is hard but you are in the home stretch now.

I went to alj hearing in sept 07. I got turned down by judge and recd letter in January. That to me is so sad to wait that long.

Don't fret. My ALJ hearing was in Jan 06 and I didn't hear anything until Aug and I was approved!!!

Re: 4 Months waiting on ALJ decision

we had our alj hearing in sept and got an answer in november, it was denied. so maybe it is a good thing that it is taking longer. we appealed the alj decision and just got approved this week.
good luck.

Re: 4 Months waiting on ALJ decision

i corrected the dates. we had the alj hearing in september, got answer in november, it was denied. it went to appeals court and we got letter this week on what they plan to decide but it still has to go before the judge at the appeal office. so it's not over yet. the usual time at appeal court is 6 months and it has been 8 months.
