| Re: When Does SSDI end and regular SS payments begin?
I have read that when one goes on SSDI, one gets the same amount they would have received had they retired at retirement age. Basically social security is saying this was for you when you could not work anymore, that time just came earlier than expected. When we hit regular retirement age, the money amount doesn't change, but it's funded differently. We'll be converted from SSDI to regular retirement, but won't notice a change in amount. This is my understanding, and I sure hope it's accurate!
