Exclamation How does FMLA and W/C work? Please help?

I have 2 herniated discs due to an injury at work. I have been out of work since Aug 13th...my company is deducting my time out of work...for a work related injury...from my 12 weeks of FMLA! I just don't understand why I should be penalized b/c of an injury that happened at work. Is this legal?
I really wouldn't care but last week I found out my mother is dying from cancer and I know there will be a time where I will need to be there for her and now I'm using my FMLA...what do I do?
Please help.

Re: How does FMLA and W/C work? Please help?

I don't have an answer for you but I did find this State of New Jersey Workman's Comp website: http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/wc/workers/workers_index.html

and this US Labor Dept FMLA website: http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/benefits-leave/fmla.htm

Hope this helps. GL
