Director,
How were you told that you would have a review in 5-7 years.
I hear people saying this but when I got my approval letter nothing was said about a revew. I wonder if everyone is told about this on the approval letter.
Hi Ellemae, there was nothing mentioned on my approval letter either about having a review in 5 to 7 yrs. I called SS and even asked about it and the woman told me some people get a review every some many yrs and some may never get on. It's based on the severity of your disability and if there's any chance that your disability could improve over time. If you have a disability were there is no hope of improvement then there's nothing to really worry about.

My approval letter also said I may be reviewed in 5 to 7 years. I always did heavy lifting in all my jobs so the hip replacement made those jobs to much for me, too much strain on the replacement I guess. I'll be 60 in 5 years, who would hire me then? I worry about this alot!
Maybe I am to old for them to pick on. I am now 62 and did get SSD on my first try at age 60. Osteoarthritis of both hips and neck. I was an x-ray tech for 40 years and that's all I know how to do. Not a chance I can do it any more.
My letter also did not mention any years for a review and Allsup who handled my case told me since nothing was mentioned then I would not have a review. I hope they are right and I asked 3 different people at Allsup and they all said the same thing.
I haven't been really concerned with one due to the fact my disability is physical one that can't be corrected. I suffer from RSD and Cervical Dystonia which has left my left arm frozen in the position where my left hand touches my left shoulder. The only time I can stretch my arm out is to put my shirt on also I can't lift my right arm no higher than my waist. Due to the muscles spasms in the left side of my neck due to both conditions my neck muscles are hard as rocks. I can't even outreach my arms like when you give someone a hug. So therefore, it really doesn't worry me if I ever get review because there nothing that can been done to correct this problem. My arms are permenantly locked in this position.

I was told I could have a review of my case in my approval letter in 2004. It told me I had been approved for SSD and what the monthly amount would be and that I could be reviewed in five to seven years. I was approved in February, 2004, and received my first check in March, 2004. I will be 63 at the start of my fifth year, so I could receive regular SS benefits, but at an reduced rate.
I am hoping if I am reviewed it will be a simple review asking if my condition has changed since I was approved for SSD. I am trying to find out if anyone else has had similar circumstances and what happened when they received their review.
