OK...I have had them send me two CD's and I cannot read either of them.
I downloaded "The Record Player" but still didn't work.
When it goes to load it says it is missing files.
This format of TRS??? Why can't they just convert it to something that will work on a common program/
I got a CD from SSA of my medical records when I was running XP on my computer. I couldn't open it so I went to their website and it had a link to Brava reader. It was still a pain. You gota work with it. I got a new computer with Vista. If you got Vista just open your CD drive and the thumbnails wil all be there. Just click on them

I used "Black Ice" to open the files on my CD. It was one of the links on the disk. You have to work at it, but it is possible to get those files open.
You can go to your local SS office and request a CD of all the info in your file. There is no charge. You will sign a form requesting it and they will probably mail it to you. I got mine in only 2 days.
Can anybody go to your local ss office and request the information that is in your file? I was approved for ssdi just recently but I still would be very interested in reading what is in my file.
Thanks,
Chris
Sure you can get a copy.
I did not get mine in 2 days, but mine is at the appeals council.
I just cannot play what they sent me. I will call tham back today. Tha only think I can think of is that I have Windows XP and that might be the problem.
I have Windows XP, too. It was a pain in the neck, but using "Black Ice" I finally figured out how to open the files. I had to go in through the back door, so to speak. If I recall correctly, I had to open Black Ice first, then open the files, and they only showed up as looooong numbers. I wrote down what number was what file so my advocate would have an easier time than I did. I printed out everything, then gave her the CD.
Don't give up. I think, like everything else, they like it to be difficult so you think you can't open it and give up and never get to check the info and bogus reports they've made up about you. Keep poking around with it. It can be done, it's just a nuisance figuring out how.
I have windows Vista. Do you think that I may have a little easier time opening up the CD? Because as you were explaining what you had to do to view your CD, I was thinking, "There is NO way I will be able to figure this out".
Chris
I updated my windows player and it says that it doesn't have the "codecs" it needs to play this.
My CD is an audio recording of my hearing, so they told me.
I'm about to give up and just call them back again.
Lady told me before that they would have someone transcribe it for me, then who knows if it will be honest.
I'm going to ask then if they can change the format before they send another one.
Jeez....Is nothing easy in this fight for disability?
you need to have your computer open it as a "tif" file.
you need to change your windows picture viewer to open it as such.
SS uses that as their files are so huge.
hope this helps you
